The Graduate School

The Graduate School is where Duke realizes its fundamental mission of educating future teachers, scholars, researchers, and professional leaders, and of developing new fields of knowledge and research. Graduates of its nearly 60 programs bring distinction to Duke as they bring innovation to the world.

The Graduate School oversees all Ph.D. and nonprofessional master's degree training in Arts & Sciences and in Duke's professional schools:  Divinity School, The Fuqua School of BusinessNicholas School of the Environment and Earth SciencesPratt School of EngineeringSchool of LawSchool of Nursing, and School of Medicine.

About 75 percent of students in the Graduate School are in Ph.D. programs. These doctoral candidates are a critical link between Duke's research and teaching efforts, serving as colleagues to the faculty and mentors to undergraduates.
