Each year, 10-20 juniors and seniors volunteer to serve as peer advisors to first- and second-year students. Peer advisors can provide you with the student view of academic life at Duke. They can share with you how they formed meaningful mentoring relationships with faculty, help you navigate online registration, and help you learn how to distinguish between what is merely popular and what is individually meaningful to you.
Peer advisors work closely with academic deans, pre-major advisors, and global advisors to create programming that helps expose you to all that Duke offers. You can also find useful information on their facebook page.
You'll have a chance to meet some of Duke's peer advisors soon after arriving to campus, when they co-host an orientation event with global advisors (check your orientation calendar when you arrive).
We encourage you to contact advisors whose academic interests align with yours, but please take time to browse the list of all peer advisors. Collectively, they represent a wide array of interests and experiences. You may find someone whose advise can be helpful even if their major is different from what you are planning. To know your peer advisor and to contact them, just click on their name below (Duke netid requred).
