Senior Year

In the senior year, students are engaged in successfully completing their undergraduate academic goals, among them the major, general education and other requirements, and research projects. They may choose a senior capstone experience or an honors thesis that will enable them to graduate with distinction. At the same time, seniors often have an eye on their postgraduation plans, including preparation for standardized examinations for graduate or professional study, applications to graduate or professional schools, and applications for graduate scholarships or employment. Assisting them in these outward-oriented pursuits will be many of the same advisors who continue to help steer their academic progress at Duke, namely departmental advisors, academic deans, counselors in the Career Center, and other faculty mentors eager to encourage their further academic development after college.
