Category: Faculty - Non-Regular Rank
The faculty in Trinity College of Arts & Sciences hold either regular rank or non-regular rank appointments. Non-regular rank faculty hold non-tenured, short-term instructional, research, or honorary appointments for a period from one semester up to three years.
Typically, non-regular rank faculty:
- teach courses to fill-in for vacancies or absences among the regular rank faculty, and/or
- offer courses in areas that complement the fields of expertise of the permanent faculty, and/or
- assist regular rank faculty in their research endeavors, and/or
- pursue independent research under the auspices of Duke University
