  • Research Description

Most voluntary associations and social movement organizations tend to be homogeneous in their social composition, yet some have achieved notable levels of diversity. Meanwhile, even though many associations aspire to be diverse, diversity’s consequences for organizational effectiveness remain unclear. My research analyzes the causes and consequences of diversity within voluntary associations and social movement organizations. I seek to explain how associations become diverse and how diversity influences their effectiveness.
