    I received my doctoral degree from Brussels Free University in May 1986, and conducted my post-doctoral study at Princeton University, 1986-87. Currently, I am a Professor at Center for Study of Aging and Human Development and Department of Sociology of Duke University, a Professor of Peking University in China, and Distinguished Research Scholar of Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR) in Germany; I am Director of Chinese Populations and Socioeconomic Studies Center of Duke University. In the past years, I taught and conducted research at Duke University, Peking University, University of Minnesota, Yale University, Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research, and Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute. My primary research fields are population healthy aging; new method of family household forecasting and its applications, social development planning and policy analysis; family dynamics & life course including marriage, divorce and cohabitation; economic and social changes in China. In recent years, I aught “Social Changes, Markets and Economics in China".
