This academic calendar for Trinity College contains deadlines and information of importance to you as you plan your academic year.  See also:

   

FALL SEMESTER 2016 CALENDAR

AUGUST
 23 T First-year students move into their residences on East Campus. New Student Orientation begins.
 24 W Convocation for new students at 11 a.m. (Duke Chapel).
 29 M
Fall classes begin at 8:30 a.m.
      SEPTEMBER
2 Wait lists for Fall 2014 courses erased.
5 M Labor Day, classes are in session.
9 F Drop/Add ends at 11:59 pm. Registration on ACES is now closed. 
Deadline for enrollment on an Audit basis: Form available on T-reqs.
Schedule Correction Period begins at midnight: between that time and September 16 you should review your course schedule and if there are any errors consult with your academic dean.  If you attended or asked to enroll in a course but could not complete the enrollment during Drop/Add, your academic dean can enroll you during this week.   
Course withdrawal period begins: Between this date and November 11, you may withdraw from a course with permission of your academic dean. If withdrawal is authorized, a grade of W will be recorded. 
16  F End of the Schedule Correction Period: after today you may not add a course to your schedule.
Deadline to elect to take a course on a Satisfactory/ Unsatisfactory basis: form must be submitted to your academic dean by 5 p.m.  (See also November 11 below). 
30 F Deadline for submitting work for Spring or Summer 2016 courses where you have an I or an X.
      OCTOBER
7  F Last day for instructors to report midterm grades.
Fall break begins at 7 p.m.
12 W Classes resume at 8:30 a.m.
24 M Bookbagging begins for Spring Semester 2017.  A freeze is now in effect for declaring a major; you may submit your long-range plan but it won't be processed until registration is over (November 16).
      NOVEMBER
2 W Registration begins for Spring Semester 2017.  Seniors register on November 3. Juniors register on November 4, 7 and 8. Sophomores register on November 10 and 11.  First-year students register on November 14 and 15.  Drop/Add begins on November 16.
11 F Deadline for withdrawing from a course.  See Course Withdrawal on T-reqs.
Deadline for changing the grading basis in a course from the S/U to the letter grading basis: Form must be submitted to the Office of the University Registrar.   
Last day to petition for relief from three final exams within 24 hours.  Information is on T-reqs.
16 W Drop/Add begins for Spring 2017.
22 T Thanksgiving recess begins at 10:30 p.m.
28 M Classes resume at 8:30 a.m.
    DECEMBER
9   F Last day of classes.
10 Sat Reading period begins.
13 T Reading period ends.
14 W Final examinations begin at 9 a.m.
18 M Final examinations end at 10 p.m.
   

SPRING SEMESTER 2017 CALENDAR

Date Day JANUARY
10 T Deadline for declaring part-time status in the final semester of enrollment:  If you are a senior and need to take 2.5 or fewer credits in your last semester, you can request part-time status by this date.
11 W Spring classes begin at 8:30 a.m., following a Monday schedule.  Classes normally held on Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. holiday are moved to today.  Normal class schedules begin tomorrow.
12 Th Regular class schedules begin.
16 M Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday: No classes. Classes are rescheduled to Wednesday, January 11.
18 W Wait Lists for Spring 2016 courses erased.
25 W Drop/Add ends at 11:59 p.m..  Registration on ACES is now closed.

14 Sun Graduation, conferring of degrees.
