Academic Calendar, 2015-2016

The academic calendar for Trinity College contains deadlines and information of importance to your academic life and success. It is also a valuable tool for strategic planning of your academic future. Don't fail to read the descriptions that accompany many of the items on the calendar.

   

SUMMER TERM I 2015 CALENDAR

Day Date MAY
   W   13 Summer Term I begins. The Monday class meeting schedule is in effect on this day (Therefore, all summer classes meet this day.) Regular class meeting schedule begins on Thursday, May 14; Drop/Add continues.
  Th   14 Regular class meeting schedule begins.
   F   15

Drop/add for Summer Term I ends.

Deadline for requesting the S/U option to a letter grade in a course in this term.

   M   25 Memorial Day holiday.  No classes held.
   F  27     Last day to withdraw from a course with a W grade for Intensive Term I.
Day Date JUNE
   F    5 Intensive Term I classes end.
  Sa    6 Intensive Term I final examinations.
   W   10 Last day to withdraw from a course with a W grade in Summer Term I.
Deadline for asking the Registrar's Office to change from the S/U option to a letter grade in a course in this term.
   M   22

Summer Term I classes end.

5:00 p.m.: Deadline for students to meet the Spring 2015 semester continuation requirement:  must have passed at least 3 courses. A student's failure to meet this requirement by this date will result in his/her dismissed for two semesters.

  Tu   23 Reading period.
   W   24 Summer Term I Final Examinations begin.
  Th   25 Summer Term I Final Examinations end.
   

SUMMER TERM II 2015 CALENDAR

   M   29 Summer Term II classes begin.

Drop/Add for Summer Term II ends.

Deadline for requesting the S/U option in a course.

   F    3 Independence Day holiday.  No classes are held.
  W   15 Last day to withdraw from a course witha W grade in Intensive Term II
  W   22 Intensive Term II classes end.
  Th   23 Intensive Term II final examinations.
   M   27 Last day to withdraw from a course with a W grade in Summer Term II.
Deadline for requesting a change from the S/U option to a letter grade in a course this term.

   Th     6 Summer Term II classes end.
    F     7

Reading period (until 7:00 p.m.).

Summer Term II Final Examinations begin at 7:00 p.m.

   Su    9

Summer Term II Final Examinations end.

   

FALL SEMESTER 2015 CALENDAR

Day  Date AUGUST
 Tu   18 First-year students move into their residences on East Campus. 

New Student Orientation begins.

  W   19 11.00 a.m.: Convocation for new students.
  M   24 8:30 a.m.:  Fall semester classes begin: Drop/add continues.
  F   28 Wait lists for Fall 2014 courses erased.
      
Day Date SEPTEMBER
  F    4 Drop/Add ends: No course may be added after this date, except with the approval of the student's academic dean and then only if the student attended the course before this deadline.
Deadline for enrollment on an Audit basis: Form available on T-Reqs.
Schedule Correction Period begins: between this date and September 12 student should review the course schedule and if there are any errors consult their academic dean about correcting it. To add a course not on the schedule, proof must be shown that the student attended the course on or before this date.
Course withdrawal period begins: Between this date and November 6, students may withdraw from a course with permission of their academic deans. If withdrawal is authorized, a grade of W will be recorded. 
 M   7 Labor Day.  Classes in Session.
  F   11 Deadline for correcting course schedules: after this deadline students may not add a course to the schedule.
Deadline to elect to take a course on the Satisfactory/ Unsatisfactory basis: form available on T-Reqs (See also November 6 below). 
  F   25 Final date to submit work for Spring or Summer 2015 incompletes.

  F   9

Last day for instructors to report midterm grades.

7:00 p.m. Fall break begins.

  W   14 8:30 a.m.: Classes resume.
    NOVEMBER
 W    4 Registration begins for Spring Semester 2016.
  F    6 Deadline for withdrawing from a course: see note under September 4 above.
Deadline for changing the grading basis in a course from the S/U to the letter grading basis: Contact the Registrar's Office before this deadline to make the change.
  F   13

Last day to petition for relief from three final exams within 24 hours. Forms available on the Registrar’s website.

  W   18 Registration ends for Spring semester 2016.
 Th   19 Drop/Add begins for Spring semester 2016.
  Tu   24 10:30 p.m.:  Thanksgiving recess begins.
  M   30 8:30 a.m.:  Classes resume
    DECEMBER
  F    4 Undergraduate Classes end.
  Sa    5 Reading period begins.
  M    7 Reading period ends.
  Tu    8 Final Examinations begin.
  Su   13 Final Examinations end.
   

SPRING SEMESTER 2016 CALENDAR

Day Date JANUARY
  Tu    12 Deadline for declaring part-time status in the final semester of enrollment:  Seniors needing to take 2.5 cc or fewer in their last semester to finish their degree can request part-time status by completing the form (available on T-Reqs) by this date.
  W    13 8:30 a.m. Spring Semester begins: All Monday classes meet on this day regardless of meeting pattern; Regular classes meeting schedule begins on Thursday, January 14; Classes meeting in a Wednesday/Friday meeting  pattern begin January 15;
Drop/add continues.
  Th    14 8:30 a.m.: Regular classes meeting schedule begins.
  M    18 Martin L. King, Jr. Holiday: No classes. Classes are rescheduled on Wednesday, January 13.
  W   20 Wait Lists for Spring 2016 courses erased.
  W   27 Drop/Add ends: No course may be added after this date, except with the approval of the student's academic dean and then only if the student attended the course before this deadline.

  M   22 Registration for Summer 2016 begins: Students can register and drop/add for summer terms through the 3rd class day of each term.
  F   26 Last day for instructors to report midterm grades.

7:00 p.m.: Spring recess begins.
Deadline for undeclared students in Trinity College to declare a major. 

  M   21 8:30 a.m.:  Classes resume.
     
  W   30

Deadline for withdrawing from a course: see note under Jan 21 above.  Since Dean's approval is required, the request to withdraw from a course must be made before 5 pm on this date.
Deadline for changing the grading basis in a course from the S/U to the letter grading basis: Contact the Registrar's Office before this deadline to make the change.

  W   27 Undergraduate classes end.

  M   2 Final examinatons begin.
  W    4 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.: Reading period.
  Sa    7 Final Examinations end.
Graduating Seniors: contact your academic dean if you fear your graduation may be in jeopardy because of an unexpected D or F or for some other reason.
  F   13 Commencement weekend begins.
  Su   15 Commencement Sunday.
