This Education 101 course is cross-listed with African and African American Studies (AAAS). This course explores the complex relationship between schools and larger society, with particular attention paid to the historical, philosophical, ideological, social, cultural, racial, political, and economic foundations of American education. Students will utilize the aforementioned foundations to critically explore and analyze contemporary educational policies and practices.
