Neglected Tropical Diseases

Fall 2017

Monday, 8 - 9:30 PM -- Keohane 4B, 402 SEM

Zika, Ebola, dengue -- the list of emerging infectious diseases grows every year. Other neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) trap one sixth of the world's population in a vicious cycle of poverty and neglect. The purpose of this course is to survey these infections in the biological and societal contexts, as well as to analyze some of their social and ethical impacts. Opportunities will be provided to engage in tropical disease advocacy on a national and international level.
