Class of 2025
Major in Cultural Anthropology; Minor in Sociology; Certificate in Human Rights

Hi! I’m Isabella Palmer and I’m a current junior from New York, NY. I am a Cultural Anthropology major with a minor in sociology and am also completing the Human Rights certificate. Outside of the classroom, I’ve spent most of my time at World Relief Durham. Since January, I have interned with the immigration lawyer, assisting on refugee petitions, visa applications, and citizenship processes for Durham immigrants. I am also on the Student Advisory Board for the Human Rights Center. Currently, I am studying abroad in Barcelona, where I hope to continue studying displacement and migrant communities.

Favorite Class: I really loved CULANTH 290s: Work and Workers in the Americas. We had a lot of freedom to allow our interests and discussions to guide our readings. I think it demonstrated one of the best aspects of CULANTH, the ability to apply the fundamental theories you learn to any aspect of culture or society that interests you.
