Director of Program II, coordinator of the Graduation with Distinction Program, and dean for Trinity Transfer Students. Liaison for the social sciences to the DUS board.
Originally from Oregon, I came to North Carolina to attend graduate school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After earning a PhD in Political Science, I realized that I wanted to work one-on-one with students and I began my career at UNC advising first-year and exploratory students in the General College and declared students in the College of Arts and Sciences. I was successively promoted to Senior Advisor and then Senior Advisor for Transfer Students and Director of UNC’s Transfer Advising Program. In this capacity I worked with transfer students as well as their advisors at NC Community Colleges across the state.
I transitioned to Duke University as a Director of Academic Engagement for Global and Civic Opportunities in 2013. Here, I have helped students define their academic ambitions and make deeper and more intentional connections across the many curricular, and co-curricular opportunities that Duke affords them.
My passion for students and love of the academy are reflected in my student evaluations at both Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. At UNC I was awarded the Mickel-Shaw Excellence in Advising Award in both 2007 and 2012.
