Our Team
Claire Siburt, Ph.D.
Dean of Transfer
As the Dean of Transfer, I serve as the primary academic advisor for undergraduate transfer students during their transition to Duke. I support transfer students’ academic integration through individualized advising and collaboration with faculty and campus partners to connect students with resources, foster engagement, and promote academic success. As an Academic Dean I enjoy working with transfer students as they begin their Duke Career and supporting all students as they reach their goal of graduation. My professional career has included research, teaching, student development support, and higher education administration. I went to college at Virginia Tech and studied biochemistry. Go Hokies! I attended Duke for graduate school earning my doctorate in Bioinorganic Chemistry.
Cara Connor, M.A.
Project Coordinator of Transfer
As the Project Coordinator of Transfer, I work with transfer students to guide them in understanding the transfer curriculum requirements and their credit evaluations. My goal is to make the transition process seamless for transfer students. In addition to supporting in the transition to Duke, I coordinate transfer events and facilitate academic connections for our transfer students throughout their time at Duke. Prior to joining the Transfer Office, I worked at Wesleyan University and the University of Connecticut in roles focused in student activities, orientation, and honors programming. I graduated from University of Connecticut with an M.A. in Higher Education and Student Affairs. My experiences shape my holistic and student-centered approach to working with the transfer student community at Duke.
