Class of 2027
Majors in International Comparative Studies and Political Science, Minor in Russian Culture and Language
I'm from Raleigh, NC majoring in International Comparative Studies and Political Science, with a minor in Russian Language and Culture. At Duke I'm heavily involved with the performing arts, specifically the Duke Chorale and Hoof 'N' Horn, Duke's student-led musical theater organization. I also work for the Thompson Writing Studio as an embedded writing consultant, work for the Sanford School of Public Policy as a teaching assistant, and serve as a Duke Presidential Ambassador. Through my studies at Duke, I've become interested in analyzing how both ideas of national identity and belonging affect political processes, particularly in Eastern Europe. After Duke, I hope to continue my studies at graduate school and go on to pursue a career in foreign service!
Favorite Class: My favorite class at Duke has been RUSSIAN 311: The Quest for Identity: Russian Literature and Culture, 1800-1855! This class exposed me to works from a wide range of Russian authors, from Pushkin to Lermontov to Pavlova, all while asking questions surrounding the nation, empire, and Russia's relationship to the West in this turning point in Russian history.
