Class of 2026
Major in Psychology; Minor in Education; Certificate in Documentary Studies
Hi I am Jasmin! I'm a student at Duke University with a passion for community engagement and leadership. I’ve served as the Social Events Chair for both Bell Tower House and Edens Quad Council and currently lead as the Mitchell-White LLC House Director. My involvement on campus extends across organizations like the Black Student Alliance, Inside Education, CS Sidekicks, and the Assisted Community Schools Bass Connection Research Team. Additionally, I am a Duke L.I.F.T Lab Research Assistant, NSFP Orientation Board member, United in Praise Choir vocalist, Duke Reunion Student Ambassador, and a proud recipient of the Samuel DuBois Cook Award. Outside of classes, I enjoy photography, watching tv, working out, listening to music and eating at the Nasher Cafe.
Favorite Class: My favorite class at Duke was The Documentary Experience: A Video Approach (DOCST 105S). This course pushed me to grow as a documentarian, challenging me to step beyond photography and into filmmaking. I learned to craft compelling narratives, experiment with visual storytelling, and embrace the creative process. Professor Hawkins provided insightful critiques that strengthened my work, and I loved seeing my classmates evolve in their skills alongside me.
