Class of 2027
Majors in History and Computational Media

I'm Jerry, double majoring in History and Computational Media. My interest lies in the intersection of Digital Humanities and social history. My research focuses on using Natural Language Processing and other DH methodologies to study the social history and media representation of the Californian oil industry, especially between the 1890s and 1930s. I also have a strong interest in any sub-genre of the history of the American West, especially how the idea of the "American West" has been portrayed in American public memory. I'm also a Team Lead for the AsteXT project, a DH team studying Asian American literature and history. Outside of classes, I'm a student at the DAHVC Lab at Smith Warehouse and also enjoy spending time with the Duke History Union. In my free time, I enjoy playing bridge and going on long walks with friends.

Favorite Class: I enjoyed both HIST 355 ("American Indians to 1815") and HIST ("American Indians Since 1806"), both by Professor Juliana Barr. These two classes will help you rethink the history of North America.
