Class of 2027
Major in Music (Vocal Performance Concentration), Minors in Psychology and Education
I'm involved in many organizations at Duke, most of which are music related, and my experiences with them have become one of my favorite parts of my time at Duke. I sing with Duke LadyBlue, Chorale, and the Voice Program. I have also performed with Duke Opera Theater, Hoof 'n' Horn, All of the Above Monologues, and even a pop/rock band for a while. A common thread throughout all of my experiences at Duke, from academics to extracurriculars, has been my love for interacting with people. I've spent my summers working as a counselor at Camp Pinnacle in western North Carolina, which I absolutely love because it feeds my passions for both working with kids and the outdoors.
Favorite Class: While I might not have said this during the class, in hindsight, my favorite class that I've taken at Duke so far was Music 261, Theory and Tonal Music I. The class was difficult, and I had to push myself much more than I anticipated. However, Professor Kelley is an amazing teacher, and he helped me anytime I had questions, cheered me on inside and outside of class, encouraged me to push myself beyond my own expectations. That class made me a much better musician, and it made me much better at asking questions and reaching out for help.
