Executive Director of Communications
Kathryn Kennedy develops and oversees the communications and marketing strategy for the college, including the development and distribution of core messaging for external and internal audiences, and the management of numerous communication channels. She works in partnership with Duke University Communications as well as with communications professionals working across Trinity departments and centers.
Kathryn previously led content marketing for the Duke Clinical Research Institute, where her purview included oversight of the institute’s website, strategic marketing for numerous therapeutic areas and clinical trial domains, and the creation and launch of a faculty engagement initiative. Before arriving at Duke, she spent five years at East Carolina University, where she began as a communications specialist serving multiple undergraduate and graduate programs across four colleges. She concluded her tenure at ECU as Chief of Communications for Health Sciences, managing media relations, storytelling initiatives, and internal communications for the division.
Kathryn holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and also completed a Master of Arts in Technology and Communication from the UNC School of Media and Journalism. She spent several years as a working journalist prior to her transition into higher education.
