My name is Ismael Alvarez, and I am a senior premedical student from Miami, Florida. I am a member of the percussion section in the Duke University Wind Symphony, of which I've been a member all four years and now serve as Co-president. I also volunteer with Duke Homecare and Hospice as a tutor and college mentor at local high schools, and am a member of the Minority Association of Premedical Students. When not studying or spending time with friends, I love running outdoors and listening to music.
Favorite Class: It isn't easy to pick one individual favorite class, but History 413: Ancient Athenian Law has to be one of them. Professor Sosin made every class feel exciting by encouraging and fostering our engagement with tense legal battles from over 2,000 years ago! I would absolutely recommend this class to anyone who can take it. Honorable mention: Bio 203.
